Like seeing the progress your making. I love the old houses and the history they impart to us . When I see an old house I think of many questions about the history of the house and the people that lived there. When I see an empty lot where one was I feel sad because there are no more questions. We live in a home designed by Geore F. Barber and have been lucky enough to have met some of the Barber family and was surprized to see they all ave intersts in the houses their forefather designed. Would love to see more on Barber and the homes he created. Thanks Donald R. Mitchell / Pecan Place, Trenton tn.
Ours is supposedly off of #36 also. I thought I recognized that in yours. Do you have a photo album. You can veiw some of ours at.http://teapottreasure.blogspot.com/
I became interested in the Restore Knoxville site last spring with the restoration of the two Barber houses and a visit from Jake Comstock on behalf of his grandfather Dean Barber who are decendants of George. Its nice to see a community taking measures to preserve some of its history.A friend has also started a photo group that has grown rather quickly at

Good luck with the restoration, I know its a tough job but when finished youl have a truky unique treasure. Donnie
I am new to this comment thing...I think I posted this to my page instead of yours. BTW, your home is gorgeous!
Here is my reply:
Yes it is, I believe it is Cottage Design #36...I have had some differing opinions, though. Unfortunately, during the Depression it was chopped into a fourplex so I am slowly working on restoring it....but in the meantime I love living in this wonderful piece of history. Delete Comment
